Good afternoon, folks, It is that time of year where we need to sign up for the causal league. If you are interested in signing up, please reply to this email. Causal league is open to new players providing that they can 100% commit and have been with the team for 3months. As some of you may know there is also an over 35 league. If you are interested in this, please let me know and I will forward names to the organisers. Please note you can sign up for both the causal league and the over 35s league. Zoom link for EGM now!

Reminder there is the full club EGM tonight at 6.45pm at Easton Community Centre foyer. The meeting will last 30 minutes and can also be joined by zoom. We have 3 items to discuss and vote on and this meeting must be quorate. Please ensure your section is covered. 1. New commitee. The following people have volunteered themselves for the roles: Paddy McGovern (Mens football -2nd team) as Chair, Sam Baker (Men’s football 2nd team) as Secretary and Isabel O’Hagan (Women’s football) as Treasurer. The meeting wasn't quorate which was a pain in the arse because we now have to have an EGM (deets in red below) so PLEASE make sure your sector is represented - don't leave it to other people etc etc nag nag. We also need new committee members as detailed below so please have a think and step up if you can. The main role of the Chair is to organise and Chair 2 meetings per year, the AGM and BGM. Making sure the meetings are quorate (2 persons for each section of club, except CACKK that only requires 1) and making sure everyone at the meeting is included and gets a chance to speak / respond to discussion topics. There are other requests and questions raised throughout the year, these are normally delegated to each section of the club. If a full club decision is required this is discussed as a committee (normally via WhatsApp) and any major decisions are taken to the AGM/BGM or in exception circumstances an Emergency meeting. The responsibilities do escalate significantly when we are planning a tournament, however this will not happen in the next two years. I’m happy to answer any questions and support the new chair. Secretarial role: Pretty darned simple (hence Linners managing it for a few years. I managed to only nap through one meeting! Boom!). Forward emails to the appropriate Cowfolk members – this should be very rare as the inquiries are being sent direct soon. Take and distribute meeting minutes. Easy peasy. You’ll just need access to Peashooter distro list to do this. And not nap through aforementioned meetings. Applaud the treasurer and chair who both have a much more demanding role. EGM is Monday 10th July at 6.45pm. We aim for it to be 20 minutes long; no more than half an hour at most. Option of online attendance.

Copa Luraecia

The Cowgirls have voted not to participate in Copa Lucreacia it is inconsistent with our foundational principles, including support for women’s rights, for LGBTQ rights and for political rights more broadly. 1. The Ortega regime in power has been condemned by the UN, various human rights organisations (including some that are not close to the US) for extensive human rights violations and prosecution of political opponents, including feminist/women’s organisations, student organisations and old Sandinistas that have denounced the Ortega regime. Left wing, progressive governments in the region – Chile, Argentina - have also condemned the Ortega regime. 2.On women’s rights, Ortega has waged a war against feminists and outlawed even therapeutic abortion in a bid to buy the support of the Catholic church. Whether some of these feminist groups are bourgeoisies or not is irrelevant, since the attack on reproductive rights mostly affects poor women who cannot afford to go abroad and are forced into dangerous illegal abortions. 3. The Copa Lucrecia organisers have argued in response to previous Cowgirls questions that the tournament raises funds for Nicaraguan organisations and we shouldn’t boycott it. But the Nicaraguan government has repeatedly used photos from the tournament to argue that UK progressive circles continue to support it, so even if we do not take photos with the Nicaraguan ambassador (our compromise last year), we can end up participating in the legitimation of an authoritarian conservative regime simply by participating. We have agreed that our participation in Copa Lucrecia is inconsistent with Cowgirls/Cowboys stance on Palestine or recently, on Qatar. We can't ignore the harsh realities of an authoritarian conservative regime or hope that our participation will not be instrumentalised. Thank you, Dana, for support with the above. THIS MEANS WE ARE NOT ATTENDING THE Copa Luraecia Tournament on the 21st of May. Social secretaries are working hard on an alternative.
