Ey up,
ever needed to check what date a certain tournament you vaguely heard about
is? Well, look no further than the ECCSSC diary of events!
https://eastoncowfolk.org.uk/diary-of-events/
The website is a good place to go to get the latest news from the club. We
also have a full club facebook group where people share events, links to
fundraisers, ask for folk to go to tournaments etc
<goog_761521969>
https://www.facebook.com/groups/2417512852
For the tech savvy amongst us, we also have a google calendar that you can
add to your own (if you use it), so all the dates show up automatically in
your calendar. Try the link below to add it, and if you struggle with that
let me know and I'll find out a better way to add it...

Subject: [Peashooter-list] AGM minutes
30/06/21
Cowfolk AGM
Apologies: Peace, Henry H, SFW, Jodie, Issey C, Ang, Angleo
Present: Linner, Kimmer, Soooooz, Ian Riddle, Colin, Sensi, Lewis, Kev, Eddie, Vic, Bex, Julian, Amy, Rita the dog (hero supporter).
Opening rant from Eddie. He loves his mum.
Secretary: Linner actually made it this time.
Treasurer: Vic still not on the bank account.
Chair: Soooooz all over it.
No minutes from last meeting as Linner was napping.
Actions from last meeting: setting up bank account deets. See above. We need to set up Vic asap. Paypal discussed but they’ll take a fee. Need to update so that we can online bank.
Sharing photos. Where? Googledrive? Ongoing saga.
Nominations for very important positions of power – none.
Soooooz remains chair, Linner remains sec, despite (or, perhaps, because of) being shite. Vic remains treasurer. She will start soon haha.
Anti-transphobic – add to constitution? Should we have loads of ‘anti’ in there? Can we call it ‘inclusive’ instead? Eddie to write something for the next meeting. We need to not make phobics the norm. There needs to be no doubt of our standing. Anti is different from not. Eg anti racist is not non racist. Colin made some good points and Eddie CHANGED HIS MIND!
New kit – Cowboys meeting next week. Possible new sponsor. Can we do it internally rather than looking for new companies? Can we keep The Plough on our kit without asking them to pay? All down to loyalty. Talks to continue…
Kill the Bill Tournament. Political action. Mixed tourney in London. SFW coordinating teams (mixed). 31st July. Same weekend as big Cowgirl cycle. Needs promoting. Teams to guide members to Peashooter.
Last AGM: 30th anniversary tourney. Need a timeline. Difficult to organise with Covid. Fundraisers tricky until we know restrictions and international shiz. Perhaps have a local tourney if all else fails. 26th/27th/28th July 2022. Send a message out to full network but with heads up that it may need to stay local. Bex hates us as she’ll be at Womad that weekend. We, however, still love her.
Finance: money (£200) given to Danilo (Autonomous). See Peashooter for deets. £250 to Jasp. Money for website. We’re balling it - £8,000 in bank account. We need to consider each £250 as it mounts up quickly. Shall we put a limit on how many £200 we give away (as it doesn’t need to be put to full club vote, decided by Cow-mittee)? Vic to keep her beady eye on it. Can we set up a one-way messaging group? SFW totes defs sorting it, even though not here to agree.
Zapatistas: Crowdfunder update. Kev has heard that they’ve had to scale it down for a shit ton of reasons so won’t make it to UK. Hopefully there’ll be another wave where they make it here, just not this summer.
CACKK: 9th-11th July. Just a camping trip, not a festie. See Peashooter for deets.
Saturday men’s sec needed. Step up! Julian made it to the meeting so is, therefore, exempt.
Can we fundraise for Danilo? Would lobbying be more successful? Could Cowgirls’ cycle ride donate? Sponsored stuff rather than parties. Fucking Covid. Up to individuals to do different fundraisers rather than as a club (although we’ll all support).
Fitness for women who want to train privately: Cowgirls potentially can do once a month. Linner to chase up details.
AOB:
Ride for Palestine. Need a volunteer to pick up bikes from London on 1st August, 6pm (drive a van to and from London). 6 bikes. Put out to teams. Get in touch with Vic. Can we coordinate with Kill the Bill tournament?
Netham: we will have a Cowfolk chat about it. We’ll have an EGM when the tender docs are out and confirmed – depends what we’d be bidding on.
Puma protest 10th July outside Sports Direct in town. Contact Sensi or Soooooz to get more info. Also see Peashooter.
Regular socials for Cowboys and Cowgirls to be discussed but also very much encouraged.
Hey guys
The teams are as follows below, let me know if I've missed anyone. Also the
monies to pay are £70 for each team = £7.78 each per Cow. Please forward

Hi all,
Just a reminder the full club AGM is happening tonight at 7pm and it will be held in the garden of Baggator on All Hallows’ Road, Easton.
There are some benches but you may want to bring your own chair to guarantee a seat!
For anyone new to the cowgirls, this is a great way to find out what’s happening in the wider club and vote on any decisions. It’s informal and you can just sit and listen or participate in discussion :)
Thanks, Soooooz

COWFOLK!! Along with Sisters Uncut, the Kill The Bill Coalition and
Clapton CFC, I am organising a 16 team 6-a-side football tournament on the
31st July and I have made sure there is a team put aside for the Cowfolk to
enter.
The tournament is between 10am-4pm at MABLEY GREEN, HACKNEY
There will be 16 teams and we are going to mix everyone up and ensure it's
all mixed ability and mixed genders.
The teams attending will include 4 refugee teams, Clapton will have 2
teams, the Sisters Uncut Kill the Bill Coalition will have 4 teams and
hopefully we will have the Zapatistas in the UK in time to enter 2 teams
themselves!!
On the day we will have a soundsystem, various stalls, talks, food, music
and drinks. After we finish at 4pm there will be celebrations on the green!
I would love to see as many people there as can make it, to build
solidarity, organise and have a great time!!
Love to all,
Jake xxxxx

Hello!
Hope you’re all keeping well. As we were unable to do our normal May Day
tournament this year, Republica are planning to hold a 5 a side tournament
on Saturday August 7th.
The plan is to kick off the tournament at midday at the Caribbean Cricket
Club and continue the party on there. We will be getting in lots of
delicious local ales and will be putting on food for after the tournament.
We will be raising money for Andy’s Man’s Club and Leeds Survivor Led
Crisis as we usually do at the May Day tournament. Entry will be £5 per
person. This will be a mixed tournament with the requirement of at least 3
female players in 7 a side team with all genders on the pitch at all times.
For teams who can’t field that many men/women then we will be able to help
out with swapping players to make the ratios work.
For teams coming from further afield, a few of us at Republica are happy to
host and this can be for the Friday too if needs be so let us know in
advance if this is what you want!
This will all be Covid restrictions permitting but wanted to put it out now
so you can save the date. Please let us know as soon as possible if you’re
up for attending and rough numbers.
We’re really looking forward to finally meeting up again. Any questions
then contact Alice or Molly from Republica via email or Facebook messenger:
alicehoole(a)hotmail.co.uk (Pam La Brinth on Facebook)
We hope to hear from you soon!
Republica
See below.
A few of us did the last one and the food was BANGING!!
I highly recommend :)

Subject: ZAPATISTA CROWDFUNDER
Sisters, brothers, hermanoas:
Compañeras, compañeros and compañeroas:
It is with great joy, excitement and hope that we share with you the
news of the journey of the Zapatistas to Europe.
On October 2020, the Zapatistas announced their ‘planetary journey’ to
the five continents. In May 2021, seven Mayan indigenous people (4
women, 2 men and 1 non-binary person) who are part of the Zapatista
communities set off on a sailing boat across the Atlantic on an
“invasion” to Europe to mark 500 years since colonisation. The first
group, the Squad 421, arrived in The Azores, Portugal, on June 13th, and
is now on route to Spain. Plans of their journey across Europe and the
arrival of a larger delegation will be announced soon. Among other
countries, the Zapatista delegation plans to arrive in the wrongly
called United Kingdom. Collectives and compas from different cities,
towns and regions are coming together to receive them in the islands and
we call everyone to join us in this historic time to listen, share and
learn about diverse resistances and struggles for another world where
there is room for everyone [todas, todos, todoas].
This “Journey for Life” represents a historical moment, one filled with
significance and importance for decolonial movements, indigenous rights,
and the potential for European movements and grassroots organisations to
learn from the Zapatista experience in autonomy and dignity, persevered
against overwhelming odds for over a quarter century. The Zapatistas
have spoken about their planetary journey as one that will bring
together struggles, people and worldviews. We have been invited to meet
and exchange experiences about our struggles against colonialism, the
fight against patriarchal capitalism, gender violence, racism, and for
the protection of land and natural resources.
We have set up a crowdfunder to support the Zapatistas on their journey
to and travels within the "UK", so as many people as possible have the
opportunity to meet the Zapatistas, learn about indigenous resistance,
and discuss what we in Europe can do to create a fairer, better and more
ecological world. The collected money will be used for: paying travel
expenses (including accommodation and food), covering COVID-related cost
to keep the delegation safe and supporting the compas on their trip to
other geographies. Any money which is left unused will be donated to the
Zapatista communities (Caracoles) in Chiapas, Mexico.
Please take a moment to visit the crowdfunder page with the full
information. Any donation counts and the first hours of the campaign are
critical to reach a broader audience and gather support for the
delegation!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/zapatista-solidarity-network
You will notice that you can choose to make your donation in exchange
for a reward if you wish. We have amazing products from books, posters,
postcards, embroidered blouses. Your support is invaluable for us and we
are deeply grateful for it! Please share it with your contacts and
spread the word!
Please note that our first event in preparation for the Zapatista visit
is the Webinar 'The Zapatistas in Europe', TODAY Thursday 17th at 5pm
(BST). Please register here for the event:

Hi all,
The full club AGM will be on Tuesday 29th June 2021. Time and location are
still to be confirmed. We are trying to find a suitable outdoor location so
we can meet in person - we are hoping for the outdoor space at Baggator -
failing that it will be on Zoom.
The proposed agenda is as follows:
1. Nominate and confirm committee for following year.
2. Update on actions from previous meetings
3. Can we add “anti transphobic” to our constitution - SFW
4. Cowboys Kit - Ivan
5. Kill the bill tournament - 31st July - Jake Lake
6. 30th anniversary tournament ?!
7. Monthly / Bi Monthly Cowfolk knees up - Luke Baines
8. Finance review - Vic (What's going on with internet banking?)
9. Zapatistas UK Tour (Can we do a fundraiser? Can we add some club
funds? Are any women coming?) - Kev
10. CACKK goes camping update - CACKK
11. New Saturday men’s football secretary needed- Tom M
12. Danilo/Brazil fundraising - where are we with this? What else can we
do?
13. Sisters2sisters (myanmar)
14. Canaan fc - register interest or just keep an eye on it?
15. Keep Fit club for women who want to exercise in private (at
Baggator). Can the Cowgirls help (netters and footie)? - Linner
I hope we can meet in person as we’re all gonna need a pint/can/shot after
all that!
See you soon, Soooooz

Hi Cows,
at this weeks QGM we had a discussion about trans and non-binary
inclusivity. In fitting with our inclusive and anti-homophobic/transphobic
ethos we have always been open to trans women and non-binary players.
However, we realised that this has been more of an un-written rule and
we've never really advertised the fact or explicitly stated it anywhere, so
these players may not know they would be welcome. Secondly, we wanted to
make sure that everyone on the team is aware of this, so that we have any
potential discussions now rather than making anyone feel that they were
being singled out in the future.
So, we would like to open up the discussion here. When other teams in our
network have had trans women playing for them, any complaints have tended
to be that these players might be unfairly or unsafely strong/physical (due
to both build and having been used to the men's game). The counter to this
has been that any cis woman could also be physically larger, stronger, of a
higher standard and/or more agressive than we are used to as a team.
The issue instead then becomes a separate one of how do we maintain a safe
and welcoming environment for *all *our players, including those who have
just started playing the game, are recovering from injuries or are
vulnerable due to past injuries etc. Because our core ethos as a team has
always been that we are open to players of all abilities and fitness
levels, we have a rule of no hard tackles (especially slide tackles) or
aggressive play*. This ethos has been fostered by all of us, and it is up
to us as players to have a word with someone who is playing a bit too
rough. This would apply to any trans or non-binary players just the same.
Apart from discussing it openly, we also decided that we should clarify all
this on the welcome leaflet and issue statements on all our social medias.
Our welcome leaflet currently states:
"*Training is for all abilities and is safe, inclusive, supportive,
friendly and FUN - please no hard tackles or aggro!*"
"*The ECCSSC is anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-fascist and anti-homophobic.
We respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person and will treat
everyone equally regardless of age, ability, gender, race,
ethnicity, religious belief, sexuality or social/economic status*" (this
is from the full club constitution).
I propose adding '*anti-transphobic*' to that list, and also adding a line
saying that "*Easton Cowgirls are open to all trans women and non-binary
players who share our core ethos and values*". I've attached an updated
version of the welcome leaflet for anyone who cares to check over and make
sure you're ok with it.
Then on our various social medias we can issue a statement saying the above
followed by a bullet list of our ethos and values.
We also talked at the meeting about optionally starting to say our pronouns
at training when we do our round of names, for anyone who feels comfortable
doing so.
Any comments? Additions? Suggestions? Worries? If you don't feel
comfortable replying to everyone here, talk to a committee member or
someone else you feel comfortable talking to.
Big Cow Love,
Sal xx
*Of course football is a physical game and some players in our team like to
play a bit more competitively or physically, and as we all get to know each
other you tend to know who you can play a bit harder against and who to
look after cos they're injured. It also only applies to our training, we
can't control how other teams in the casual league or at tournaments play.
