[OOTB-hive] New communication platform for our community?

I'm one of those geeks who finds it much easier to talk about tooling and process improvements than to do "real work". It's fun to experiment! This is our hobby after all.
My thoughts:
* I would be very interested in trying out Mattermost.
* Within Alfresco there was a guerrilla movement to start using Slack for employee communication on teams. It was fantastic until we hit the 10K limit of messages and the history turned off. Then it died and everyone went back to Skype. I a member of a few other Slack channels, but haven't found it compelling.
* I think it is a lot easier to catch up on email archives then weeks of old Slack history.
If someone sets up something to play with, I'm game.
