[OOTB-hive] Downloading Alfresco Community Edition

Alfresco management recently changed the way downloads work. I'm still
gathering data to make my case to restore the old functionality.

When they made the decision, I pointed out that people can still download
Community Edition from other places (such as Source Forge) without going
through our email gate. They made clear that they understood that and did not
consider it a problem. I have been able to defend the wiki pages for
historical downloads, but it is still a point of active discussion.

The reduced functionality of the download (no zip) is supposed to be corrected
shortly.

I believe our trademark license allows you to redistribute unchanged Community
Edition binaries. Alfresco does not have a problem with you offering the
downloads in a manner that is more convenient for your purposes, so long as no
one is confused about the source of the software. If management complains in
the future, it gives them another nudge to fix the official download page to be
more convenient.

Thanks for asking for my opinion,

Richard
