Quick action to email the European Broadcasting Union and to tell it to suspend Israel from the contest.

Not only has the European Broadcasting Union refused to listen to Palestinians – but it’s been complicit in covering up Israel’s crimes. This year’s pre-Eurovision party “Israel Calling” saw participants plant trees on top of ethnically cleansed Palestinian villages, whose displaced residents are barred by Israel from returning.

It is shameful that a Eurovision Party took place on stolen land, whose indigenous owners are prevented from returning.

Dear Susannah,

As we lead up to the national march in London on 13 May we are asking you to take action each day in a week of action for Palestine.

Here’s what you can do today:

Tomorrow, the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest will be taking place in Liverpool. The contest should be a space for joyful celebration. But Eurovision's organisers refuse to distance the contest from Israel's grave violations of Palestinian rights. There should be no Eurovision party that includes Israeli apartheid.

Can you email the European Broadcasting Union and to tell it to suspend Israel from the contest?

Email the European Broadcasting Union
If you’re in Merseyside, Liverpool Friends of Palestine are organising a range of events against apartheid Israel’s inclusion in the event, including a protest tomorrow. Can you join?
Join protests in Liverpool
The European Broadcasting Union continues to allow Israel to take part in the contest, despite Israel’s decades-long regime of oppression against the Palestinian people. Inspired by the South African anti-apartheid struggle, Palestinians have called on organisers of cultural events to refuse ties with Israel while it continues to deny them their basic rights.

Its vital we send the European Broadcasting Union a clear message – don’t party with Israeli apartheid.

Thanks for taking action and stay tuned for tomorrow’s notice. You can find details on the week of action here.

In solidarity,
Lewis
