Dear Friends of Soccer Without Borders Nicaragua,

It's my great pleasure to invite you to FSF Granada's first-ever storytelling event to close out Year 13 of its operation. While the challenges of this pandemic year have been many, one of the silver linings has been greater virtual connectivity. With this storytelling, we are excited to open a window into how the program, staff, and participants have been resilient to the many challenges that 2020 has brought, as well as what new developments are in store for 2021.

>From the recent hurricanes, to the pandemic health risks, to drastically limited tourism that dates back to the Spring 2018 civil unrest, the world has thrown everything but the kitchen sink at FSF Granada over the last few years. But the incredible staff, led by Co-Directors Veronica Balladares and César Morales, has not let those external conditions define nor derail them. With program alumnae now holding two-thirds of coaching positions, including our 7 university scholarship recipients serving as assistant coaches, the program has established a new generation of leaders who are role models, leaders within their teams and projects, and collaborators in shaping the vision of FSF for the future.

We know that Zoom fatigue is real and that screen time is excessive. Our goal is not to add to that excess, but rather to connect you all to the on-the-ground work of building a more equitable world for women and girls through the eyes and words of those who are living this change every day (translated to English!). You have been a meaningful part of the Soccer Without Borders journey in Granada, through its most vulnerable days and its strongest days. During the hour, we plan to keep the Zoom chat open so that the time together can also serve as a chance to connect directly with one another.

I hope you'll consider joining us for this unique virtual event at 17:00pm UK time/11:00am Nica time on Tuesday, December 1st. The invitation is attached, and you can RSVP here to attend or to receive a follow-up with a copy of the recording.

Abrazos,

Mary
