Subject: [Peashooter-list] April's Peashooter is here!
It's a bit sparse - blame Kev as he only managed one page this month ffs - but all riveting so give it a good old gander
In case you haven't seen please see the below information for the network tour in Leeds .
Dear friends
As the summer’s draws nearer we have more news on this summer’s main event:
Republica’s Ruby Revolution! Celebrating 40 years of the club in God’s Own Country (aka YORKSHIRE YORKSHIREE YORKSHIREEEE)
Specifically, the tournament will be at:
Bradford and Bingley Sports Club, YORKSHIRE, BD16 1LT
The set-up will include a mixed 11-aside and a 7-aside tournament inclusive of women, non-binary people and all trans players.
We are asking for people attending to buy a ticket for the event (in place of a team entry fee). We’ve gone old school and used a google form and bank transfer to save on fees from a ticket site. But if there’s any problem paying this way then please let us know. Please send this link around your team and ask people to pay as soon as they are able. This will help massively with covering the overheads of the tournament. The link to purchase tickets is here:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1xLWX4NNwqPihqcZE1_K20j2y6A4jnfuPZrmHrJIWgy…
In addition to this (and maybe even more importantly), can you could please reply to this email and let us know whether anyone from your team will be attending, which tournament they will be taking part in, and a rough estimate of numbers ASAP then this would be very useful. If you don't have a full teams worth then no worries - we will try and combine you with others to form a team!
Kids are welcome (and encouraged!). Any dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
We will be operating a Safer Spaces policy which will be shared before the event, and we will not tolerate any actions that make other participants feel excluded, uncomfortable, vulnerable or threatened.
The clubhouse has ramp access and disabled toilet facilities. The camping is accessed over the other side of the river across a bridge which takes about 5/10 minutes to get to depending where you are on the site. If you have accessibility requirements and would prefer to be camped next to the clubhouse and main entertainment area then please let us know.
Let us know any questions
Love,
Molly

Please read the sections in the attached Peashooter about Jesse’s team and Copa Lucrecia / Sandino before the meeting.
This meeting needs to be quorate so please make sure your section of the club is represented.

Please see below regarding a theatre production called pitch. If you are interested in taking part, please let me know. I need responses by the 23rd of April.
Hello,
I hope you are well. My name is Ellie and I'm a set and costume designer and an associate artist of November Theatre. I am getting in touch about a project that Director (and Artistic director of NT) Nell Bailey are co-developing and the possibility of some of your players, and alumni being involved.
To give you some more information about the show:
Pitch is a show about Football and the LGBTQIA+ community. In the wake of the controversial Qatar World Cup and eagerly awaiting the 2023 Women’s Tournament, Pitch will bring together a diverse group of queer artists and present a collage of historical and present day queerness in relation to football.
The show is a devised piece, with a documentary focus – created from interviews, objects and stories that emerge from the whole team training together as a 5-a-side squad and interviews with queer players and fans. The audience will watch us play (some of us for the first time), listen to us give a voice to those who couldn’t and still can’t be proud, ask why 30% of football fans admitted they’d find two men kissing at a match uncomfortable and help us imagine a future in which queer presence in football is more than just a debate over a rainbow armband.
As part of the process, Nell and I are reaching out to teams across the UK and asking about the possibility of doing some interviews and collecting sound recordings that we will use as part of our research whilst developing the show. We are based in London, (but are both from Bristol!) and are happy to discuss what connecting could look like. As time is limited to us, we'd love to set up a call, a zoom, or we could send through questions that members who are interested could respond to via video or voice note – whatever you imagine would work well for the team. It's really important that the show is by our community and for the community, which is why we'd love to ensure non-London voices are involved.
The show is currently heading up to the Edinburgh Fringe for a work-in-progress run which we hope will then be followed by a regional tour, meaning we can return the show to those whose voices shaped it.
If you've got any further questions or need to know more about the show please don't hesitate to get in touch.
We both look forward to hearing from you soon!
Best wishes,
Ellie and Nell

Please see below for information regarding this years May Day tournament in Leeds:-
Hi all, looking forward to seeing you for the May Day 2023 tournament on Saturday 6th May. Here’s some info about the day. If you haven’t already, please can you let me know by next Wednesday (12/04) if you want a team and which section of the tournament you’d like to enter.
Football location: Caribbean Cricket Club, Scott Hall Road, LS7 2HH
After party location: New Moorside Club, LS6 2PW (5 minutes drive/cycle from pitches/20 min walk)
The CCC is having a renovation so sadly cannot use it for the after party but the New Moorside is close by for all our party needs. There will be portaloo toilets at the CCC and toilets nearby at Scott Hall Leisure Centre.
Rough schedule for the day:
11:45 Registration at the Caribbean Cricket Club
12:30 Kick off
4:00 Final Game
4:15 Group photo + awards (weather dependent – if not will do at New Moorside)
5:30 New Moorside – buffet will be available with suggested £5 donation
6:00 Raffle announcement
Dancing, DJs, partying etc etc etc until midnight
- There will be two sections to the tournament this year (see below). All played on GRASS. Suggested cost is £5 per person. Please do not let cost be a barrier to participation and message Alice for any questions about costs for your team.
- Mixed tournament – this is all for genders and we encourage all teams to diversify their squad as much as possible in regards to gender
- Women, transgender and non-binary tournament – this is for anyone who identifies as women, non-binary and all transgender players.
- There will be a raffle with lots of wonderful prizes from local companies which will be also raising money for Andy's Mans Club and Leeds Survivor Led Crisis. We will also be selling Republica merchandise on the day which will also go towards fundraising for our network tournament.
- We will be putting together a cold buffet of vegan and vegetarian foods with a suggested donation at £5 per person. Please pay by cash or via Paypal. There is also an excellent chippy across the road from New Moorside.
- There will be a pitch-side bar which will be cash and Paypal only. Cathy will also be selling her legendary Mexicanas throughout the day.
- May Day is about playing a football tournament in an environment that is free from aggression, oppression, and the toxicity that football can often bring. Although it’s about football, it’s more importantly about bringing together like-minded teams with similar values to us and enjoying a footballing space together. We would like to remind all players that that we expect people to adhere to Republica’s Safer Spaces policy throughout the day and being inclusive and supportive of all players on the pitch. There will be prizes for each team and the 1st place trophy will probably be the shittest so get ready to win ‘Best Dressed’, ‘Most Spirited’ or ‘Best Craic’ to name a few.
Any questions please message Alice on 07876507206.
Reminder! Please let me know by Wednesday 12/04/23 to confirm your team’s attendance
