Leeds tournament 7th August

Hey Folks, Just wanted to check no more cowgirls want to come to this mixed tournament up in Leeds with our friends Republica Internationale. We will most likely be travelling up on the evening of Friday the 6th, then on the Saturday it’s football during the day and a Party in the evening, we’ll then travel back on Sunday. We will stay at peoples houses, where ever there is space, for the Friday and Saturday night. The tournament is mixed so we will be playing with and against men, entry is £5 per person Below are the people who have signed up: Sensi Holly Sally Maria Izzy (Portuguese) Wanchali Harry Mark Becs? Can you let me know ASAP if anyone else would like to join as we need to sort out places to stay and how we are going to get up there. Thanks Harry :-)

Well you made it happen despite COVID, sudden isolations, projected thunder and lightning and an unexpected Colombian food shortage. Congratulations to Duffers Allstars for totally owning the tournament and playing some outstanding football. And well done to the Easton Cowgirls for picking up the Plato Lucrecia Lindo (next year we will find a plate honest). It was brilliant that we had teams travelling from Cardiff and Birmingham and also having two new teams taking part was lovely. A big thanks to all the teams who took part. Ambassador Guisell and her colleague Brenda, the Nicaraguan footballer/chef, enjoyed meeting the teams. They presented Roz, Elspeth and Nick with the Embassy’s “Special Friend of Nicaragua and Solidarity Hero” awards for their many years of voluntary work supporting education and Fairtrade projects with Nicaragua. Casual League and give us all your money! (Please read me, I'm important)

Hello lovely Cows! Hope you’re all ok despite the dip in weather - silver lining is that the allotment needs less watering! Got a couple of things to share, mostly about money, soz... Casual League next year: the time has come to have the yearly discussion around how we will pick teams for next years’ Casual League, how many teams we’ll have, what is happening with the Casual League etc etc etc Let’s meet (have an EGM): 13/07/2021, 7.30pm. Most likely on Zoom, sadly. I’ll send out a link and reminder just before. If you want to have moaning rights about unfair teams / the picking mechanism / the plan you better be there!!! Training subs: just a wee gentle reminder that subs for training should still be paid over the summer, even though we’re in the park - the funds cover the coaching and give us a bit of a ‘cushion’ for training at City Academy in case we don’t have enough folk turn up to cover the costs (they’re not cheap!), and also get saved up towards our Ethical Fund - more on that below. Subs are £4 or £3 unwaged - pay at training (usually lovely Lizzie Winter collects cash) or pay online (Easton Cowgirls, Sort Code 08 92 99, Account number: 65168055). You can pay per session, pay per fortnight, 4-weekly or in whichever way you like. IMPORTANT: money should never be a barrier to football! If you haven’t got enough money to pay, talk to one of the folk in the committee (me, Zoe, Lizzie, Liz, Fran, Ev, Sensi, Wendy) and we will figure something out. Membership payment: we have a yearly membership fee of £20 (£10 un or low waged). This pays for things like equipment if we need any, the Ethical Fund, and any other random costs we incur that are not pitch hire. We were a bit slack last year collecting this, but it would be good to start again properly. If you want to play in the Casual League next year you will HAVE TO pay (unless money is so tight that you can’’t - again, talk to someone in the committee). Same account details as above, please put your name as a reference. Ethical Fund: we have an Ethical Fund that you can apply to if you’re in need yourself or there’s a specific project that needs funds. Smaller amounts can be agreed by the committee directly, larger requests will be put to the whole club. I’ve attached the agreed parameters of it for info. End of season awards: We would usually have a fairly substantial end of season party with the whole club, but alas, that seems unlikely this year. BUT: that should not stop us from awarding our usual End of Season Awards: The categories are: Player of the Season, Most Improved Player, Best Newcomer, Cowgirls Cowgirl, Cowgirls Wonky Donkey. Ev, Wendy and Sensi are our Social Secretaries, so if anyone would like to help them organise a survey and awards ceremony please give them a shout! That’s the business-stuff out of the way. Two more things: Big Ride for Palestine: a bunch of Cowgirls are cycling from Bristol to London to raise funds and awareness for Palestine. Should we have loads of ‘anti’ in there? Can we call it ‘inclusive’ instead? Eddie to write something for the next meeting. We need to not make phobics the norm. There needs to be no doubt of our standing. Anti is different from not. Eg anti racist is not non racist. Colin made some good points and Eddie CHANGED HIS MIND! New kit – Cowboys meeting next week. Possible new sponsor. Can we do it internally rather than looking for new companies? Can we keep The Plough on our kit without asking them to pay? All down to loyalty. Talks to continue… Kill the Bill Tournament. Political action. Mixed tourney in London. SFW coordinating teams (mixed). 31st July. Same weekend as big Cowgirl cycle. Needs promoting. Teams to guide members to Peashooter. Last AGM: 30th anniversary tourney. Need a timeline. Difficult to organise with Covid. Fundraisers tricky until we know restrictions and international shiz.
