So if I understand you correctly, now if I try to connect I will not get 
all my traffic routed through the bee network? Please confirm that. 
Perhaps I can re-enable the vpn connections in that case and test the 
vmware tools again.

I should say that my local network routing is completely standard and 
untouched, so is probably not deciding anything.
