Richard, thank you very much for the ideas.

I like BeeCon if we agree on branding conference with Order of the Bee. We started this discussion in private between board members and thought about the conference as about "Order of the Bee Summit", but then we decided to be more independent and common, so "Alfresco community conference" sounds better. As for me, Order of the Bee is already an organization of active Alfresco community members, so I like OOTB branding for such conference. And I registered "beecon.buzz" domain few minutes ago. Maybe we will not use it, but it's good to have it bought :)

Regarding place: let's figure out that a good venue costs as a plane. So if someone wants to provide a venue for a conference for free, then we select this city and place with a high probability. We already have visited Berlin, Barcelona and London during last years, so why not to go to Brussels or Stockholm? University is a good idea if one of them is ready to host event for 100 geeks. In any case we can think about university for the next year. :)

Boriss, I think that everyone agrees in general that we can try to organize a conference. Can we get detailed info about what your employer is ready to provide? We can start with "what we already have?" and then think about "what else should we do?". Next questions will be about content and sponsoring all things that will not be provided by your employer.

Hi Rich,

excellent input - totally agree.
Especially:
* Beecon
* formal organization & money handling
* Mission
Comment: We also should address to invite all the community users and
admins having the real need and passion to _use Alfresco and allow them
to discuss needs and use cases with us. Many people say there are no
community business users but at least in the german speaking area I
would bet they are the majority and not seen so far. Only Alfresco has a
real overview by using the tracking pixel. We should discuss how to find
and address these power users.
There is a big chance that the bees can workout something which Alfresco
will never be able to do: build teams to specify specialist
applications, create and maintain public available models, processes,
best practices

Location:
* I would suggest to find an university to host the Beecon. They have
the perfect infrastructure for such an event and don't have commercial
interests.
* We should take a look on cities which ar easy to travel to and have
enough budget accommodatons. Berlin and Barcelona were excellent for
that. Brussels and Stockholm may be not as affordable for every bee but
it's maybe a question of organization?

BeeCon rocks!
