IIRC, the share application caches various data in memory - site
metadata and other stuff. Now assume you have a load balancer sitting in
front of a bunch of share apps. You change some settings and log  in
again later ending up on another (share) node which did not receive  the
update.

Assuming thats seriously hurting you, pimping up the share cache to act
distributed could be used to solve this problem. Still (depending on the
exact scenario), it might be easier to scale up share vertically and/or
drop in custom (jvm) local caches.
